Notes

This is a first for me. A promo vid for a fic. I have to say I was thrilled when geckoholic expressed an interest in Se7en. We came together and said, "yep, let's do this." Hee... and we did.

Making this has been awesome fun. Not only working the fab geckoholic and seeing this wonderful fic come together but also (finally!) having a good reason for using effects.

Go and read the fic! It's wonderful. You don't need to know the film Se7en to follow it. It stands alone. But if you DO know the film you'll love seeing how Gecko has managed to weave it into the story.

Ooh, great job! So she's redone 7? That should be a really interesting fit. You definitely had the eerie part of this down -- I'll bet a lot of people pop over to check that out :)

And yes. She's used the elements from the film and woven them into a casefic. It's pretty damn creepy (like the film) - it also feature post hell Dean which gives it an extra edge.

Wheeee! That's honey! I'm so thrilled you liked it. It really gave me a chance to flex my effect chops. Great fun to play with layers and the echo effect. :)

The knife is from Bloodlust. It's when Gordon dips the knife into the jar of deadman's blood and holds it up. I've always loved that clips. :D

Thanks honey!!! :D Oh man...I just had to use the maggot clip. In fact... it was one clip I put in that didn't appear in the original story. I told Gecko I could take it out but she added a description of maggots so I could keep it in. \o/ :)

WOW! um...yeah...WOW!

*cough* that was amazing, your use of negative space here sets a fantastic chilling tone to the whole vid and I love the way the text echoes along with the images, that's very, very effective and adds so much to the overall jarring theme. You chose some terrific clips on this one that really bring out the glimpses of horror lurking in the dark.

Oooh this is so awesome and creepy and it goes SO well with the fic, that is really neat.
I'm not really sure about the effects, to me it feels like there should be either more or less of them - like you could have pushed further? The doubling/overlay stuff felt a bit calculated. But that's a nitpick! (and ignore it if you aren't out for concrit) :) Awesome job, both of you!

Thank you. I'm glad you thought it worked well with the fic. The story was the main reason for the clips choices so I had hoped they worked.

Thank you for the concrit. It's very rare to get it (in comments...*g* my betas give it to me all the time) so it's great to hear.

I hear what you're saying also. The main reason I don't usually do effects in my vids is trying to tread that fine line of too much - or not enough. For this I wanted to experiment with the echoes in the images, but didn't want it to distract from the image to much. I will say that I was concerned about it being a bit "try hard" - in terms of the effect looking too calculated. Looks like I could have smoothed that out a bit more.

Holy Cow, is that ever perfectly creepy. I have no idea what the movie's about but I think I'd sleep with the lights on for the rest of my life if I saw it. I like Howard Shore and he sure delivered nails on a blackboard for this one. Still shuddering....Great work.

The movie is remarkable. It's a fabulous thriller. Dark, but not jump out of your seat stuff. Just very disturbing. The murders are horrific. You never see them though, just the result.

The acting is wonderful Kevin Spacey is the villain and he's as creepy as hell.

It fits so well in the SPN 'verse. That's why I was thrilled when geckoholic said she'd write it.

Se7en is one of those movies I've never had to rewatch because it stuck with me. You're video catches that feeling. The way you've edited it, the clips you've chosen and the effects... I wonder if I'm ready to read the story.

The movie definitely has that effect. I remember being totally horrified by it. And yet very impressed. The story telling and acting is fantastic.

The fic does capture the horror but it's within the realms of SPN. Show can be pretty horrific at times. If you can bear that you will probably be ok with the fic. I love the way she works in hurt!Dean. It's post hell Dean so it's fascinating to read that in context with the movie.
