Multi Fandom Vid!

I haven't had a chance make a whole vid recently (boo!) but I have been doing a little bit of vidding as part of The Great ETV Vidding Experiment. (ETV = Expanding the Verse)

Six vidders took part. We each received a short section of music and had to produce a vid (around 40 secs) to the show of our choice. We didn't know what each other had produced until organiser, starrylizard, glued it altogether. That's part of the fun of these experiments (there's been a few now).

I think this one turned out really well. The theme was "happy". The selected song has lyrics about battling on no matter what. So even though there's a lot of happy moments in the vid, it's also dotted with some more heartfelt moments.

Anyway. Here it is: (it looks like I've been greedy by doing 2 sections but someone pulled out so I snapped up the spare spot...)

::yaaaawn:: I love your vids first thing in the morning :)

I can't admit to know any other shows besides Misfits, but the whole thing was so uplifting (and yeah - so well done throughout!) that I don't care. The 'heartfelt' moments definitely seem to be some intense and sobering stuff, but it makes the vid even more powerful with a strong celebration-of-survival vibe that I love.

and yay for fandoms getting along :)

I know most of these shows but not nearly as well as SPN so I was along for the ride for most of it too. But I couldn't helping grinning from ear to ear when I first watched. There's some wonderful uplifting moments.

Hee... and yay for inter-fandom vidding! :D (these used to be only SPN, but I think that narrows the vidders that can get involved. At least this way it gives more vidders a chance to play along. it even gave me a chance to vid something other than SPN - which is liberating I have to say *g*)

This is a cool idea. I liked the whole thing, particularly the Leverage section. Parker!!! It's interesting that although the theme is "happy" there was a lot of room to show really serious moments for these shows. Against all odds seems to sum it up. The vidders really seemed to take cues from the lyrics, which I guess would be what you would usually do. This came out to be a more textured, complex vid as a result, rather than bubblegum pop happy. It's fun to see the differences in vidders styles next to each other also.

The difference for me with watching a multifandom vid vs a SPN one is that I know the story with SPN and I can concentrate on the lyrics of an unfamiliar song and still know what the storyline of the visual images is without having to really think about it. Like, a hug on SPN means something really different than it might mean on Leverage or Sons of Anarchy but I don't know the background. I have to take that all at face value. I hope you all do another one. This turned out pretty cool.

Hee... yes! Parker! It was weird when I was vidding that...I had SO much Parker in there I had to remember the others...:D I kept having to take some of her stuff out....She's just so adorable!

The lyrics really led to exploring other emotions in shows other than just "happiness". It was great to see what everyone did.

And yeah...knowing SPN the way we do it's easier to identify what moments mean when we see it in a vid.

There is another one planned. :) Not sure when it will happen though.

I really enjoyed vidding something other than SPN. It's harder though because I don't know the other shows (and where to find the clips I want) as well as SPN.

You have just hit upon something from one of our previous discussions I hadn't thought about.

You love vidding SPN cause you know where stuff is. If you need one particular scene, you know where it is. I, on the other hand, continually vid material I'm unfamiliar with. When I need something I have to go search the show in its entirety.

We each like that style where you can pick off the shelf while I love to go hunting. But on this one you actually got a good glimpse into what I do for each and every vid I do.

Yeah. I have to say I much prefer to be familiar with the footage. Not only because I know where to find it, but to also make sure I'm using it in the correect context.

I love vidding SPN because I adore the show and am heavily invested it in. These days though it's getting harder to remember where all the scenes are because there are so many episodes.

We are very different vidders. As much as I really enjoyed doing this, I prefer knowing all the episodes inside out. I just need to get more familiar with them (which probably won't happen because not enough time!)

There's some great fun shows out there. I love Leverage for easy, (angst free!) watching and Misfits has brilliant characters and scripts. Sherlock of course is MADE of WIN. I don't know Sons of Anarchy (but I'd love to check it out). I've seen some Lost Girl and I enjoyed it. Same with Offspring (that's an Aussie show).

I really enjoyed this - I don't even know some of the TV shows but it interested me, drew me in and I'm now thinking I might investigate Leverage I think it is, I didn't know Lindsey from Angel was on another show...!

Loved your sherlock montage - you really picked some great clips that, overall gave me that 'happy' feeling.
