Notes

After watching this video I was struck by how similar the cellists look like Sam and Dean. I thought it would be pretty easy to cut up footage from Supernatural and blend them together with the cello footage. I've always wanted to montage the boys fighting and this seemed like a good opportunity to do that. Well, it wasn't nearly as easy as I thought. Trying to get the right mix of each footage and create a structure that (hopefully) means something ended up being a pain in the butt bit of a struggle. But like a dog with a bone I kept at it (with cupidsbow's help) and ended up with something I'm pretty happy with. In fact, there's an edit in here that is probably one of my all time favourites ever. It won't look like much to anyone else, but it makes me bounce whenever I watch it.

It's weird that I really don't like it when they boys beat each other up, but man...it's pretty sexy when they do (is shallow *g*)

My son showed me the original vid of Sulic and Hauser playing the cellos and asked me "Mom, are these those guys you like on that Show"?
lol
I had to watch it for a minute or so because of how closely they DID resemble 'those guys on that Show I like'.
This is the conclusion I came to after doing some research. These dudes are world famous musicians independently of each other and have played together many times. My personal opinion is that someone noticed the resemblance and said "Hey, why don't you make a vid that resembles 'those guys on that Show you like'? I think it's possible that one or the other or both are SN fans.

Think about it, they're usually wearing tux and tails performing, in this vid one's wearing a leather jacket, the other has floppy hair. It's a little eerie how closely they resemble Sam and Dean, isn't it?

Okay I'm back! I was scared to sign up for 4shared but IT WAS SO WORTH IT, THIS VIDEO WAS AMAZING! THE EDITING IS OUT OF THIS WORLD! My favorite part might be just this tiny moment at :40 when they are both climbing to their feet, SO GOOD. I also really love :06-:08 when Dean pushes Sam in time to the music. And the scene with the pool table! LOL okay I'm dying to know YOUR favorite part!

Oh YAY! Thank you for doing that! I have since made a sendspace link and it's now (hopefully) streaming through Vimeo.

I'm so glad you like the bit with them getting up. It's weird, I was having trouble with that whole middle section and my beta mentioned that in terms of the structure it needed a "cat and mouse" bit. I had that in mind when I put laid that clip down....it made me think of them getting ready to pounce again.

The edit I mentioned is at .47 when not!Dean backhands Sam - his face his spun around and then the next clip is the cello spinning around. Just something about that makes me happy.... :))

4shared gave me Smile Like You Mean It to download instead, (sigh, yeah, YT blocked in the US. Never happened before, actually) but Sendspace saved the day.

Anyway, very fun to watch :) I like how you used clips of the cellists that kept it from being obvious they weren't the boys, and how well you made the sharp accents in the music punctuate the hits and blows they were dealing out. It's really interesting to see that much violence without any sound from all the physical damage around them. I also scrolled down to see which editing bit you really loved, and yeah, absolutely, that quick little flash of clips looks fantastic together :D

I'm surprised it's blocked in the US. It's a shame because that's where most of the YT views come from.

First time I ever saw the cello vid I thought they looked so much like the Winchesters it was unreal. This is how the boys would have been if their dad gave them cello lessons instead of bow hunting lessons XD

Hee... well, that seems to be my preset. I TRY to do fancy stuff but it just doesn't want to play ball. I really wanted to add a cool effect to the cello footage but anything I did just looked naff. (I almost emailed you for suggestions...). I think I'm mostly comfortable when I use straight cuts and try and work the beat stuff. ;D

I've come to applaud you some more for this fantastic and ORIGINAL vid! :D This is sooo incredibly fast, exciting to watch and HOT!

I have no idea how you did all the editing. It's sooo fast. Must've done your eyes in. And of course, as you mentioned a favorite edit I was looking hard to try to spot what might have been it. It all looks so perfect to me. But since I know you looove Sam's hair I just go with the moment at around 1:18 when Sam's hair flies up (with the red background). ;D But I personally really like the moment at about 0:23, when Sam turns away as Dean drives off. That little overlay. Makes it look like the car fades into nothingness.

Any which way, I just loooove this vid!! :D

It's pretty fast yeah? That's why I was worried about it being hard to watch. O_o :D

I have a few fav moments in the vid (:koff: anything with Sam's hair flying around is always a fav!), but the edit I mentioned is when not!Dean backhands Sam and his head spins around and then the next clip is the cello spinning around. I know it's nothing deep, but I squeed a little when I did that. I actually think it might have been one of those happy accidents. :D

This is so awesome!! I remember seeing that duo of cellos singers like six months ago and i immediately thought to share it with one of my best friends (who's also a SPN rabid fan) and to point to her that these two talented men were definitely SPN fans, hehe. And to see a fan made video on their work, blended nicely with SPN scenes it's even more wonderful. I was wondering if somebody will make something like this. Guess it was gruesome work making something to fit with that speed of beat...

I hate it too when they fight each other but it's so hot at the same time, we're helpless that way:))

I think because there were so many reference to them looking so much like Sam and Dean the idea started to fester. I was thinking... I wonder if I could blend the two.

The speed of beat was hard, but getting it all to flow and fit was a real challenge. I had to do a fair bit of shuffling around. But that's the fun of vidding (most of the time).

So glad you liked it. Makes it all worth it...:D
