The TV networks are refusing to run this ad in Australia due to commercial interests. So I'm gonna post it about the place.

(Coke are fighting a container deposit system which would help reduce plastic waste).

Yeah - it's pretty shocking isn't it? I think we only ever see a tiny amount of the damage we do to wildlife... ;(

And we won't. I saw this on Media Watch last night and was sadden by the reality of the way the world works. Channels 7,9 and 10 didn't answer MW's letter asking why they wouldn't air it. At least SBS was honest and said it wasn't in their commercial interest.

Yeah. I mean, it's shock tactics by Greenpeace, but sometimes shocking people is the only way to get the message across - unfortunately.

That's a powerful ad. I'm really glad someone made it, and thank you for signal boosting it here.

Isn't it?! I totally didn't expect what happens when I first watched it. I'm sure Australia isn't the only place effected by plastic waste (though maybe other countries as dealing with it better than we are - or at least trying to...)

Good old Greenpeace. But it flipping sucks that the stations won't run the ad!

Hee...I was chatting to my kids today about Greenpeace and realised they have been around for a long time. Thank goodness.

And it does suck. Each station has too much to lose from Coke's advertising spend to risk running it. Sadly.

Heh, they certainly have. I was a member was back in Uni days... Not a member any more but I donate occasionally and keep a vague track of what they are up to.

I'm tired of protecting the feelings of the sensitive from the damage the world is inflicting on itself.

Run the bloody ad

Unfortunately it's more about protecting their bottom line. It's anti-coke and coke are BIG advertising spenders.

Sadly I saw lots of pictures like that before, being a fan of documentaries. But it's good to see it in an ad, to alarm the people that won't know about it otherwise.
And it will work with persistency. Coke tried to get away with non-returnable bottles here, tried to fight against the laws and had to learn that they didn't have a choice

oh that's interesting. Good to know - let's hope it works the same for them here. ;)

And they said that the 1980s were a greedy time. It's gotten far worse since then...
