Hi guys.

Um... I'm doing some research and I'm needing a little assistance.

Can anyone rec me some vids made by guys? I've seen the Buffy V Twilight one, but I'm needing to broaden my viewing experience. Any fandom is fine. Though SPN would be great as that's the one I'm most familiar with.

Thanks so much if you can assist.

PS: Quality is not the issue here necessarily .... just I don't personally know any male fandom vidders (other than the one that doesn't want me to give him honest congrit..) so anything is fine, whether you think it's great or not...

I'd say the majority of the anime and video game vidding community is male, but I'm guessing you're looking for live-action vidders. If that's the case, in addition to the ones listed above, castorsfate, macchinainterna, and petetheprince are guys. Off-LJ, there's also PowerMonkey (http://www.powermonkeystudios.com/) and Eclipse (http://www.gametrailers.com/users/EclipsejpX/gamepad/).

A 2006 survey (http://www.animemusicvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=72384) of the AMV community resulted in a gender split of 62% male and 38% female.

We have a thread devoted to live action videos by AMVers (http://www.animemusicvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=79140), but it doesn't specify genders.

castorsfate is one of my favourite vidders, he mostly vids movies. Lately he has taken down his stuff from lj, but check Beautiful, it's still there.

threezerotwo & ryty are both male vidders. they only have a limited amount of vids online now though. threezerotwo has a recent BSG one at his LJ and ryty has started to upload his Buffy vids to Bam Vid Vault here (http://bamvidvault.ning.com/profile/RyanTighe?xg_source=profiles_friendList).

I'm impressed there are this many men active in this fandom.
My first vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3DC6e1yV7A) might be considered machinima since all the footage was created by me in the MMORPG "City of Heroes". After that, I did an early study of the character Claire (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbXk8xaUYvQ) on Heroes. The only other one I've done is Particle Bride (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-Sukb_adNw), but I wasn't the first one with that idea.

No fear. This is not a malevolent request. Nor is it to make and sweeping generalisation about male vidders. Or any sort of list. And it is not something that I will be posting about.

I am in fact very excited by the response and I'm looking forward to watching many new vids.

I just learned we were in the minority about a year ago. All the time I was visiting the Vidding community on LJ I thought the members were mostly guys. Now in retrospect I have no idea how I thought that. I guess my eyes were closed were just closed.

Yeah, it's interesting isn't? I had no idea either, but I suppose even though this looks like a lot compared to the amount of female vidders it's quite small.

With regards to my research - I'm investigating whether men edit or make different styles and types of vids to women. This is not for any ulterior motive but just because this question has been asked of me and quite frankly I don't know the answer. So I wanted to take a look and then realised I didn't know many male vidders.

But wow! I do now.... :) I'll be checking out your work ... ;)

Must check this whole post, since we just discussed with my friend about how obsessed fan worshipping is counted as normal for girls, but not so for boys...How fangirl and fanboy terms means two entirely different things...

Brent Barrett over at the Terra Firma Scapers forum hasn't vidded in awhile, but he has a bunch of wonderful Farscape vids with a wide range of styles. I just watched his "I Want" again, and that vid always gives me chills. ♥
