I came across this gorgeous drawing of Sam on twitter today and felt compelled to share it.
I adore this rugged, world weary Sam who looks like he's still fighting. My imagination gets swept away looking this (and ok, it doesn't hurt that his hair is awesome! *g*)

I've been working on mysammybigbang (yay! still excited that Sammy has his own bang!) vid. My lovely author gave it the thumbs up so that was cool. *g*

OMG! I wish I knew! I cannot FATHOM what they're doing with his hair this season. It's so damn sad!! (seriously, first they screw up his character and now his hair?!!?! What's a Sam!gal to do!?)

Date: 2015-01-11 10:12 am (UTC)Funnily enough I watched the first episode of season 9 again yesterday, hindsight is a wonderful thing and I feel no where near as angry about it than when I first watched, but this image of Sam reminds me of that episode too and I'm planning on watching the whole of 9 again in perhaps a better frame of mind.
Happy New Year to you honey, great to hear you're working on a new vid! Sounds an interesting challenge and I'm not surprised to hear things are going well, you always seem to be willing to plunge ahead with new ideas.

Date: 2015-01-12 01:55 am (UTC)Oh you watched 9.01 again?! I remember not being at all angry when the episode aired - in fact, I was excited for the prospect that the story line might bring. Because it was never satisfactorily played out (IMHO) I carry a renewed bitterness that I am finding very difficult to shake. The are some s9 episode I can happily re-watch, but mostly it just makes me sad that Sam never really had a voice (and when he did it was to condemn Dean so essentially it worked against him).
Still! S11 has just been announced. I have mixed feelings about that I have to say. If they could ditch the angel and demon storyline I might start feeling a little more excited about it. But there's no way that's going to happen, so I just have to try and take a more relaxed approach to it all (ha!).
The vid was a challenge - mostly because AU is always difficult for me. It's nothing remarkable - but I was relieved when the author said how much she liked it. :)

I am happy about it for their sake, even though the show isn't hitting me emotionally any longer, it is a very huge cornerstone of my on line experience and I kind of want to embrace it again, but yes, I do wish they'd be bold and shake things up, but as you say, no way we're getting that now, but they desperately need some fresh ideas for conflict.
Oh, I was enjoying 9.01 first showing at first, even with my freak outs about how show handles possession, I followed them, I followed Dean's decision to do what he did, it was organic, it showed his absolute panic, but I don't think I had appreciated how played he was and how manipulative Ezikiel was from the very beginning (and I admit I found it hard keeping things straight in my head, that all those speeches from Dean and Bobby weren't them but a projection of how Sam 'thought' they'd be and in the end I'm still not sure if Death WAS there or not, or even if Dean was Dean or Ezikiel asking)
But the end - keeping the secret and then next line of episodes when Dean seemed to find the angel more useful than his brother as did the writing team, then things got very difficult. I pulled well away from fandom when the witch hunts started, first with Dean being painted as a bastard manipulator to Sam 'all 10 years of series' and then Sam got it in the neck over everything else - I couldn't handle my feelings over that when I love both of them to pieces - flaws, warts and all, if you can understand why one did as he did how can you not understand how the other felt, and yet if you didn't absolutely agree on one side being 100% to blame then your own human existance was being called into question? Nope, not for me those discussions.
I hear you on the AU vid thing, I've only done a couple and you really need to dig deep and latch onto your story, you probably remember the Mother Mary thing I did and what a mess that was at first until you started questioning exactly what the hell I was doing! Hee, worked out though as I'm sure yours will, you know where I am if you need anything.

Yes yes. It always felt like Dean was there but other than maybe seeing Sam make the deal with Death he was never there (even when "he" said "they ain't no me if there ain't no you" I don't think).
And *nods* at everything in the next para. It was a good set up but very poorly handled (and somewhat character destroying).
Hee, worked out though as I'm sure yours will, you know where I am if you need anything.
Thanks hun! Actually - maybe you could take a peek? Mostly to check the technicals and see if it's working to an a outsider. Though, this late in the game I'm not able to change a lot, but I'd be keen to know how it comes across...
