We just got the call to say my daughter didn't make the final cut for the WA Nationals Team. :( She is devastated of course. A difficult thing for a 12 year old to understand. Even when we tell her she did well to get where she did. She was the best shot put thrower in the squad, but she needed another event and unfortunately she just wasn't able to demonstrate her potential during the trails.

Oh well. It's all part of life. Learning to deal with disappointment is all part of growing up I suppose. Sucks though.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that - but as you say, it's all part of growing up. I am always amazed by how my own children face the possibility of these sort of disappointments, far better than I ever managed.

At the end of the day, the good things about taking part in these sports almost certainly outweigh the disadvantages.

Give your daughter my love, and tell her that I think she's amazing.
