You know how when there's this terrific build up to an episode and you imagine all these wonderful things are going to happen and there's this really high expectation



AND IT'S EVEN BETTER THAN YOU IMAGINED!!!!! OH MY EFFING GOD!!!!

*deep breath* A couple of things before we start:

1. ASDHJFHASD;FITJALTJAAJJFJFASGSTFGSFFAGKKUFFYRHFJKSKAA!!!!!! (just had to get that out of my system..)

and

2. Kripke you are a BASTARD! You ARE! I hate you and love you all at the same time! BASTARD!

Why?! Well there's more than one friggin' reason...

* You break our hearts JUST SO you can mend them again in some schmoopy bromance episode. Bastard!
* You even use the word Bromance IN the episode. Bastard!
* You have broken!Dean AND keysmashfabulous!Sam in the same episode. (Maybe not such a bastard)
* You brought back Adam.. \o/ (Oh thank you...a third "kinda" brother...yes, thanks!)
* You have have kick ass Cas! (You really are trying to make me like him aren't you?!) Bastard!
* You fill the episode with slash references just for us...

Let's just pause for a moment... Is it just me? I don't really watch the show with my slash goggles on (shut up! I mostly try not to...) but come on! Those lines...they're there for us yes?? "erotically co-dependent!?" All that stuff with Cas?!! Up against the wall fighting?! "Blow me?" Winks at Cas AND Sam??!! Come on! <3

Actually the bro!love that was pouring out of that episode?!.... *guh*.. definitely not a bastard for that!

*They have the "in the car chat at the end of the episode* which they haven't done for AGES! \o/
*Sam knows Dean... I mean... really, really KNOWS him. Not enough hearts for that one.
*Dean has to witness not one but TWO suffering brothers (sorry.. massive kink I have here so .. BASTARD!!)

Now for the *you really are actually a bastard* points..

* You killed Zac. :(((( He was such a wonderful baddy. I LOVE the SPN baddies. Gordon, Alistair... and now Zac. :(
*There were NO women in that episode. Now, I'm not one to get on my high horse about that because yep! I'm into the guys.. especially our gorgeous SPN guys... but WOW, that was testosterone heavy... and more noticeable (I thought) than usual...

BUT...

You are a manipulating bastard Kripke!! You knew! 100th episode and there was going to be (for the moment, anyway and hopefully forever) reconciliation between the brothers. There was going to be those long awaited apologises between them. There was going to be Sam SAVING and having the utmost FAITH in Dean !.. Sam growing up! Dean restoring his faith in Sam! (Oh and GOD, Dean acknowledging that he left Sam to rot in the panic room!) Sam saying "you're still my big brother... *melts into a pile of GOO!* And Sam being...just everything!!! (please, please can we keep this Sam now....)

I'll stop now because I am ranting. There's just so much more.. but.. I'm just.... you know.

Kripke. You may be a bastard. But I love you. Not least because our boys - though they didn't physically hug - they did emotionally and that's enough for me. *happy, happy sigh*

I'm pretty sure the line was "neurotically codependent," but it was slurred intentionally to dance the dance of ambiguity. Other than that, I certainly agree it was a stellar ep, more than equal to the hype. I wish I hadn't seen those spoiler clips, though, because those scenes were so powerful. I'd like to have seen the for the first time in the context of the rest of the show. Reminder to self: go spoiler-free for the remainder of S5!

Nope. It was "erotically". It was even close-captioned that way. I think, with it coming out of Zach's mouth, the non-slashers in the audience could take it as a slam against Sam and Dean's "manhood." While the slashers could see it as a shout-out. So it works. At least I thought it did.

I've just re-run that scene a few times and it really does look as if he's saying "erotically." It would be possible to work your mouth that way to make it sound like "neurotically," but that's a little far-fetched, even for Supernatural. I'm now coming down on the side of "erotically," with the rest of SPN fandom.

Oh and yes. Being unspoiled. Best thing ever. I used to watch all the little clips and promos and everything. Now I just wait because seeing them in context is so much more powerful.

I've always said that the series needs to end with the two boys, in the Impala, happy together, with the whole wide world their open road.

I could have ended up happy if last night's episode was truly the last. But I'm so very, very glad it's not.

Oh yes. It has the sense of a chapter closing didn't it? And really, that's how I would like to see it all end (when eventually it has to...*sniff*).

I think we can take what happiness we can get and brace ourselves for the next 4 episodes.

LOL I'm pretty sure it was "neurotically". That's how it sounded to me, it fits in the context of what Zach was saying (ie. they're crazy and have mental issues). The other way doesn't really make sense and closed captions get words wrong all the time so I wouldn't trust them :P

"neurotically" would make a lot of sense. It's definitely something Zach would have said. And definitely describes the brothers. And I'm pretty sure it would have been scripted that way....but. Show likes to mess with our brains so I'm thinking they played around with that, just to stir us up. Which it did!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought that the slash/wincest references were aplenty in this one. What can I say? I know I'm a sick twisted little puppy for liking me some Dean/Castiel but what the heck? And bamfy Cas? OMG, I love him more with each episode if that's even humanly possible. And while this wayward chick almost lost faith in her favorite Winchester (i.e. Sam) in the beginning of this season, it has been restored with this episode. Phew! Don't know what I would have done otherwise.

Yes to everything you said, and if there's really any doubt in your mind of Kripke and company's blatant, conscious, deliberate fanservice, I'd have thought that the use of the term "bromance" alone would have resolved it. Add to that the many, many other slash-specific references and there is no more room for doubt.

One the one hand I knew Dean couldn't say yes (just yet, with 5 episodes to go), but I really, really believe that he was ready to. I just love that actually he DID say yes ... and then changed his mind. So, we ended up with both!

Oh indeed. I've been waivering. I've been really scared at times what our Sammy was going to do. Which way they were going to take him. This is where I wanted him to be - strong, grown up, responsible, BUT also still needing Dean to be his big brother. And that's exactly what Dean needed to.

So pleased to see Adam show up, I really did wonder about him after Michael took John and they stressed the familial blood line for vessels.

I loved seeing Adam again. I really love the idea of a third brother. I also liked how they resolved us not having to see him regularly. He's back in heaven I presume... (though I wouldn't have minded if we did see him regularly..)

She was one of the three who surrounded Castiel in the warehouse - you were probably distracted by the ripping off of the shirt to reveal that symbol ripped into his skin that your brain failed to catalogue it!

I think for me the best part of Adam this time around was the fact that he didn't consider the Winchesters as family immediately, his family was just him and his Mom and John was just this guy who popped in once a year and gave him a treat - that sounded very human and was so unlike the ghoul in that sense. However there was this underlying sense of yearning in him that made me feel he did want a chance to know the brothers better. Where he is now I don't know - could be Michael has taken him as a temporary vessel as Lucifer has done - Eeeek, I'm so pleased I'm spoiler free, having so much fun with speculations.

Great episode and above all a great big sigh from me - are we finally over these old festering conflicts now? Pretty please, I think they've about run them into the ground - I know there have been far too many times this year I just want to shake the pair of them and clonk their heads together.

That smile and wink to Sam on the floor and it was me melting on the floor - it's just how I always want them to be.

OH PLEASE!!! Wouldn't it be great if now we see them learning to work together again. Trust each other and work out how to fight this TOGETHER! I just adored Sam SO MUCH in this ep. Both boys, in fact, have resources of inner strength that they've barely tapped into, but when it comes to Sam...there's just something about watching him stepping into his own, that's really quite impressive.
And I don't think Dean's faith was the only one restored. I think plenty of fans are breathing a sigh of relief this morning too (in regards to their relationship I mean).

I have to say I agree. I know a lot of fans see the slash, read it, write it, etc. but there are equally fans who don't. (And possible more that don't than do... though I have no idea if that's true or not).

I think that show borders on alienating those fans a bit sometimes. I'm not sure. At times I think they go a bit too far. I like that it's the fans that create those situations and stories. I agree, we don't need the show doing it as well. And boy did they ever in this ep!

Oh and yes. I am desperate to watch it again. I can actually relax this time and enjoy it knowing how it turns out... :)
