I got a "strike one" on my You Tube account today and it's freaked me out!! (and yes, I may have been caught panicking a little tiny bit)

I can't believe it was on a vid I posted over a year ago (Heaven's Door). I always dispute my copyright infringements and usually the vids are restored. In fact I thought this one was... but.... yikes! I've been put on notice. Looks like 3 strikes and they'll delete my account. I think that may well kill me. There's a lot of work on there.

Do I make a back up account? I can't say I'm keen to but if I do do I reload my vids on that? I really don't want to do that either, but I don't want to lose everything..) I see lots of peeps make "back up accounts" - but I'm not sure what that entails.

I suppose I've been lucky so far... I have 40 vids up and this is the first time this has happened.

Damn!

eeep. that's no good! I just uploaded my first ever vid to youtube the other day, and it has no music and was footage I took, but I was still kind of freaked that they'd shout at me about something. I'm quite scared of them for some reason :(

good luck!

If it's your own footage and no music you will be totally safe. It's the music copyright that is a problem. Though as fanvids are considered "transformative works" there's a dispute procedure that usually works fine. I've been relying on that these past few years.

But, I think I might just have pushed it too far this time. I'll just have to be more careful in the future I think.

Thanks hun. :)
