Was there ever a reason given why SPN changed to a Friday night?

I'm thinking that it's not such a great night for TV, seeing as how it's a going out night (usually). I know in the past it clashed with very popular TV shows... did they move it for that reason? Or just 'cause.

Also..

NOT LONG NOW!!!!!!

(Though, I'll have to steer clear of my flist until I've seen it. ENJOY!!)

No idea. Who knows why tv networks do what they do. I'm just glad it's on, regardless of the day.

Am getting more excited as the minutes tick by til 10am. This is gonna be absolutely awesome!!!!!

Well, enjoy when you do get a chance to watch.

Work is gonna be hell today, as even though I'll watch the ep a couple of times before I go, I'll still be dying to see it again once I get home which isn't til 9.30pm. Sooooooo tempting to load the ep onto my laptop and take it with me. Must resist... must resist. At least I'll have the AFL grand final to sort of take my mind off SPN and our boys.

Basically, they moved it because it's an aging show with a genre fanbase. Though Friday is considered the "night of death" on American TV, Smallville did pretty well in its move to Friday last year. Also, The Vampire Diaries, which the CW launched in Smallville's old Thursday slot before SPN last year did really well. Basically, that means SPN was moved because:

--The CW had the opportunity to launch a new show after its strongest performing show (The Vampire Diaries)

--Geeks are home on Friday nights

--Supernatural's numbers were so steady for so long in the face of such stiff competition that it showed the fanbase would follow it wherever

Though it's slightly annoying from a personal scheduling standpoint, I don't think the show's numbers will suffer much by the move. I am curious to know how Nikita does in that evil timeslot from hell, though. I don't wish failure on the people who make it, but I would like for the CW to realize how remarkable SPN holding down that slot for 5 years was.

Ah. Thank you. I wondered if Friday night was considered "night of death" in the US as well.

I can see that reasoning and as you say they did a remarkable job doing so well in a tough time slot.

I'll be interested to see how it rates this year.

Thanks so much.

When I read that at first my thought was, "Yeah, that the night they put shows they want to make go away". Then I realized that other people actually "go out" on a Friday night.

Shows how old and boring I'm getting... :)

HA! Yes... I like to stay in on a Friday night now. But I know a lot of people like to hit the town on a Friday night.

:)
