The worse thing about NOT posting a reaction immediately after watching is having a whole night to think about it. Made for a restless night. Damn show! (must try not to do that again).

Anyway..

Insta!reaction would have been: 90% Squeeeeeeeeee!! and Loooooooveeee!! with 10% Hurty..

Counting the ways....

1. Ewwwwwww. Love it when show does GROSS, even if I might have had to turn my head away a couple of times. :) I really didn't expect that guys face to peel off.

2. Do I even need to scream SHIRTLESS boys??!! I know I don't. But I will...ARGHHHHHHHHHH... I was damn close to licking the screen. Just sayin'.

3. Sam paying for sex. Ok. Gonna get serious here for a minute because I really loved how this spoke so much about Sam at the moment. A word that comes to mind about Sam at the moment is efficient. Just something about the way he goes about things (everything in fact) and it struck me that it's the same for sex. He wants it, be buys it, he moves on. Having to go and "pick up" up sex would require an energy I feel he just doesn't want to use. Emotion he would have to fake. I think it also shows us that some off the "old" Sam is there. I've always got the feeling that Sam cares deeply in relationships. Passionately. Sam can't give that to anyone at the moment so I felt that he was sparing someone some heartache. He's cold... but not that cold. Though I adored that OF COURSE she'd do it for nothing. I mean, MY GOD!! You are damn fine Jared!!

4. Castiel!!!! I can't believe that one of my fav things about this episode was Castiel (I'm usually pretty *meh* about Cas, not sure why but I never really knew where he stood and mostly his character just confused me). But this! Not only did Misha bring a wonderful new energy to the screen he also brought a very solid feeling Castiel. I clicked with him from the very first appearance and stayed with him until the end. I think the thing I'm loving the most is that he is ALL ANGEL! He still has the lovely dorky side, but he just seemed more confident in his role (role on earth that is..) and that, in turn, set me at ease. Love the zipping all over the place.

5. "Dean and I have a special bond". Hee! Aside from the shout out to Dean/Cas shippers I kinda love that this was said out loud. OF COURSE they have a special bond!! He rescued him from hell after all! But it was Sam's good old fashioned bitch!face that was a gem to see AND Dean's gorgeous puzzlement. Great moment.

6. Almost every line that came out of Cas's mouth. :D

7. Torturing the kid. Er, no... I didn't love that they did that but I thought the scene was very interesting. I think it was there for many reasons but mostly to show how detached and different Sam was. But I came away not really seeing such a different Sam. Sure... different from Season 1 and 2, but this was the Sam we saw when he was willing to sacrifice Nancy. Certainly the Sam we saw when Dean had died for the last time in Mystery Spot. It's not such a leap to see Sam like this.

We're back to efficient Sam. I'm sure he wasn't happy that they had to torture a child but Sam sees beyond that now. They need info. This is how to get it. It's certainly more evidence that he has lost his empathy but I think Dean probably needed to see this to start his thinking that something is wrong with Sam.

8. Dueling cars!!! My absolute fav moment! I commented or maybe posted somewhere that I really wanted the two cars to be around for a while because I thought it would provide a lot of opportunity to have some fun. I'm sad that it's the end of the 2 cars but I LOVE that they had the kind of fun I imagined before we saw the death of Sam's car. Dean racing ahead of Sam?!! Priceless!! Oh boys... it was so nice to see that (close to) friendly rivalry between you again. And seeing them getting out of their respective cars at the same time?!! DID THINGS TO ME!!! <333 (oh and Sam's car was very efficient - so suited the Sam we have at the moment).

9. Dean in dad mode to Ben and Dean dreaming of Lisa = *hearts* (glad there was a little link back to them instead of an instant "they're gone now").

10. EVERYTHING ELSE!

And....

Just how "wrong" is Sam?! I suppose some part of me wishes we didn't have to have the boys so at odds with each other (still). It just plain hurts. The moments I enjoyed most in the episode were when they were just getting on with things. Researching, trading banter, fighting side by side AND did you notice Sam gave Dean a little concerned look when Cas cut his hand? It was very slight... but I'm sure it was there. I was looking for it (I always do) and I was rewarded with a little look. (I will take ANYTHING at the moment!).

More and more I am seeing purely survivor Sam. And I'm not sure if it's only from what he went through in hell or from his time being a full-on hunter without Dean. Probably both. This is who Sam needs to be to get through it all. I don't mind him actually. Sam kicking in that door...?? *guh* Sure, I want to see empathetic, caring Sammy back but I'm finding this side of Sam interesting to watch. And I am DYING to know what happened to him (and damn I hope there's a really cool payoff!). They keep hinting at something so there's got to be a reveal at some point.

I was more engaged in this episode that the past ones. Not exactly sure why. I think probably because it was pretty tight and well paced and Team Free Will brought a gleeful energy that was contagious. The boys talked (wheeeee over the hood of the Impala) a bit, they're back in the Impala together, they're hitting the road.... life goes on. Of course there has to be some brotherly angst. There's ALWAYS been brotherly angst. It's a major component to the story arc. I just hope they don't take tooooo long to get back into step and start discovering that they can be more than just family. They can be friends also.

EXACTLY. Whenever someone goes all, uh, Sam's so different, I feel the need to ask them if they even watch MS (and the latter half of S3). He's not that far off, it's his way to cope and also how he gets without Dean. Makes perfect sense to me.

I'm SO glad that they just moved on from Ben and Lisa without ever mentioning them again, I was really worried about that.

Hey honey!

He's not that far off, it's his way to cope and also how he gets without Dean.

Yes indeed. Sure there are certainly "elements" missing (and I really like ancastar's belief that he might be missing part of his soul), but some of his actions are familiar. He's always been bordering on this type of behaviour. I think his time in hell and hunting without Dean has tipped him over the edge.

It's interesting to see this side of Sam, but I can't wait to find out what's really going on with him.
