This fulfils my final prompt "colour" on my [livejournal.com profile] vid_the_grid table!! *throws confetti* \o/

First up - thanks to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] smilla02 for this wonderful song and prompt. I've loved getting my teeth stuck into something meaty. And uh..thank you for your awesome feedback. <33

How on earth do I sufficiently thank my betas on this project?! To [livejournal.com profile] counteragent who has been with me from the very beginning. Listening to my ideas and checking out numerous early drafts. Thank you so much for your help, cheerleading and wonderful ideas. <33

To my long time beta and friend [livejournal.com profile] _sharvie_. I've said it before, but I'll say it again; your eye for detail is down right scary. And damn impressive. Thanks for the push to get this right honey and for your wonderful suggestions. <33

And to [livejournal.com profile] maichan808 for being my "fresh eyes" once all this was pretty much said and done. Your thoughts and comments helped immensely. Thank you sweetie.

Vid Notes

It was very early on that counteragent said to me "epic vid is epic". She was not kidding. *g* Not only in the scope of the story, but the process of putting it together was pretty epic. Not least because I decided to use external footage to help show the world that was saved. It's the first time I've used it to this extent and it certainly has been a learning curve.

I chose to use it because I feel we never really get to see "the real world" in the SPN 'verse. I not only wanted to use it to highlight that fact, but also to show a world that was oblivious to the sacrifices our boys had made.

There are a few themes running through the vid and I suppose I hope the vid speaks for itself. But, in a nutshell, it's an exploration of the various actions that not only set the apocalypse in motion but how each character's journey took them to the moment of being able to save the world.

I also wanted to show a little of who these boys are and why they do what they do. During discussions with counteragent I found it interesting to discover that the boys are all about saving families and yet in saving the world they destroyed their own. There's a little section in the vid dedicated to this side on them.

Enough blab. :D

No money made but comments are gratefully and warmly accepted. <333

I'm at work, which means I have to wait until I get home (AGAIN!) to d/l and watch the epic vid. I'm sure it is going to blow me away so this will be my feedback even before viewing :)

I love reading your notes as much as I love watching your work. Been many years since I've (and my partner at that time) made any vids (totally different fandom and totally so many years ago when we had to use vcr to hardware to pc) and reading your notes made me want to go back and read my notes. For casual viewers, this (work you put in) might not mean much since they're not aware how much work it is but I do. Which is why I so appreciate all your hard work and millions of time you had to edit one scene, one music note, etc. Sorry if this had been addressed, which I'm sure it has before.

I just wanted to say without sounding too mushy, that I'm so glad to have found you in one of my flists. Good job Ash!!!

Hi there,

Thank yu so much for you (pre watching) comment. I hope you enjoy it when you do watch it *g*)

And I totally love that you mentioned the work that goes into one of these. I suspect only vidders would know..

millions of time you had to edit one scene, one music note, etc

This is so very true! I can't think how many times I worked on that opening section. Those freeze frames and trying to get the timing right on each of those was probably the thing I worked on the most. And then there's the decisions on what type of transitions to use and I usually work over that stuff a gazillion times.

So ... thank you! I do love the process of making these, but yeah... especially with one like this, it can take a lot of time. <333
