I wasn't really taken with that episode I have to confess. I started writing up why and it sounded like sour grapes so I've decided to just say that even though it had some funny moments (Jensen and his physical comedy being a highlight) and a couple of cute bro moments (Sam ribbing Dean while watching the wrestling), overall it left me feeling pretty flat and disappointed (and a bit squicked tbh). It might be that I'm feeling flat today due to a cold, so I'll watching it again to get a better perspective (though I will have to skip the Lucifer & Crowley scenes and the torture scene *meep*)

Happy to discuss in comments if anyone wants to chat. :)

i thought it was better than last week

Haha! we are on a different wave length on this for sure! The Vessel (to me) was one of the best written eps this season and this one was the the worse (well, second to The Devil in the Details).

For me, last week's used subtly in the story telling. This one hammered it over our heads. I felt there was more "togetherness" last week even though the boys were apart than I did this week. The wrestling watching was fun, but I felt like I was watching Jared and Jensen (act), not Sam and Dean. But I love that many did really enjoy the episode. That's always great. :))

On a side note - Dean saying "we'll save Cas" irked me so much that I think it that's what spoiled the episode for me. Not because of the sentiment (of course they'll save Cas), but because of the way Dean is able (allowed to by the writers) to forgive Cas for letting out Lucifer instantly - but it took a WHOLE SEASON for Dean to forgive Sam for the same thing. I know it's a different story line, but a least a little bit of something from Dean would have been satisfying. He did at least acknowledge Cas made a mistake at the end I suppose. But clearly, all has been forgiven (even though it almost got them killed last week). Eek! I ranted. Sorry. I've been holding that in….

Oh my GOD yes!!! I think I almost punctured the skin in both hands through clenching my fists in anger and disbelief at that line. Dean gives Cas a total and complete pass for letting the freaking devil out of the cage that Sam gave up his life and sanity for, (and endured hundreds of years of torture to put back in), and when Sam inadvertently set Lucifer free, not by purposely saying yes goddamnit, Dean punishes him for an entire season!!!

I had actually written a huge response to your reaction post about last week's episode, but it was so bitter and angry I ended up deleting it before I could hit enter. I liked the premise of the episode, and the sub scenes were fabulous, but I didn't like much of the rest at all. I thought Jared's acting wasn't up to scratch in that ep. (There's something I never thought I'd say) Instead of seeing Sam like I normally do, I saw Jared acting, and it took me out of the moment. It felt like Misha playing Cas being over the top Lucifer threw Jared off his game.

It's cool. I never mind it when people have different reactions to mine - not matter how bitter. It's why I post reactions - mainly to see what others thought. I know not everyone liked last week's ep (and not everyone disliked this one).

Up until last night I wasn't annoyed about the Lucifer storyline - but now that I can see that they really aren't going to connect Sam with it I can understand why many are upset about it. Such a shame (but, tbh, nothing that surprises me. Show has left me so disappointed in the past really should be used to it by now…).

And Sam didn't even realize that is what he was going to do when he killed Lillith. Letting Lucifer out wasn't even in Sam's mind at all during that whole thing. Castiel knew EXACTLY what he was doing when he said yes.

I am surprised he's not a little bit pissed with Cas - after everything they went through to put him Lucifer back. But maybe they are just so used to this bad stuff by now that they've run out of emotions for it all. ;) And maybe we'll see more of that when Cas is actually back.

I buy Dean's "forgiveness" of Cas because his anger with Sam had nothing to do with Sam actually releasing Lucifer. His real anger was over Sam "trusting" Ruby and "choosing a demon" over him. The fact that Dean trusted Ruby at various points and the fact that Sam asked Dean to go with him to kill Lilith held no sway over Dean. His real beef was that Sam dealt with Ruby when Dean said he shouldn't. Releasing Lucifer was secondary to what Dean termed the "betrayal" of Sam being an addict and his relationship with Ruby.

i say it was much better also becuz Casifer was away doing something else, away from them, and Sam and Dean were together doing something instead of apart for 30 mins(nevermind the research) Sam waiting until it was too late to notice irked me, that was i was waiting on and it disappointed me that it look over 30 mins :(

which pissed me off last week. hoping something different will happen in the finale, they save themselves, defeat the darkness on their own. Cas dies in the sacrifice. that doesnt happen something else happens, i'll see what you thought, if i agree, no grade from me.

like i read your thoughts on the devil's in the details, i actually thought it was ok but i read your thoughts and change my mind because you were right no grade for that ep i'd put into the mystic as the best ep of the 2nd half. its ok ash :)
