maenad has written the most incredible meta on Supernatural and the Soul. It's wonderfully detailed and provides some plausible and interesting insights into the way the soul is used in Supernatural. It's one of those pieces where you need to set aside some time and absorb the thoughts. But do! It's well worth the time. ;)

Fic:

runedgirl recently wrote a piece addressing some of those S8 spoilers. Resurrection It's a fix it for spoilers. :) It's absolutely wonderful and makes sense of everything that has come out in the spoilers. Go read if you are feeling in any way worried. Even if you're not it's a fab read. (Wincest)

I know you have ALL seen the gag reel, but here's a link just in case. It's full of J2 love and I adore it but... why so short? There has to be hours of outtakes. Only 6 mins? Boo. I remember hearing an interview by Guy Bee saying that during Hello Cruel World there was enough gag reel material to run for ages. *grabby hands* I want it!! Anyway...the Js love, respect and trust each other SO much... (no tin hat required!).

Fandom stuff:

This is an interesting article I snagged from a link provided by yourlibrarian. It's something that I've been thinking about a lot lately. The various fandom platforms and the (perhaps) decline of LiveJournal.

It stresses me greatly that a forum like LJ might be in decline. I mean, I know it is, but what else or where else provides a platform like this one? Tumblr seems to be the fandom sweetheart at the moment but it just doesn't fulfill those connecting with "real" people needs that I have. I see pretty pics and I think WOW and I "like", but it just doesn't seem enough. I want to say that to the actual creator but figuring who that is seems to be a trial. I get that they receive the stats on who has liked and reblogged but, idk, seems impersonal. Also, reblogging just means that everyone who keeps seeing the same stuff over and over. Then there's all the pics you really don't want to keep seeing! Argh...nothing makes me feel my age more that not understanding something...

I will say that I didn't get twitter for ages either. But I do now, so maybe it's just a matter of spending some time there. Or not. ;)

We Are Infinite

Those who know me (like Loki does!), knows that the brothers and their beautiful, messed up, soul selling, painful, sacrificial love for each other is my favouritest thing ever. It's at the very heart of the show and this vid captures that so perfectly!

Loki's vids always blow me away and this one is no exception. The way she combines voice overs, music, footage and editing to capture the essence of their relationship is breathtaking. Just... *hearts*... it (and her!) so much! <3

Anyway. I'm in Sydney for a week visiting my little sis and my new nephew. Yay cuddles! (And handing him back when he cries..*g*)

I'm wanting to write some meta on the boys fighting (I've even prepped the screencaps) but I doubt I'll have time to do much while I'm away. (But watch me try!) I also have a Garth vid I want to do (hee... fat chance) and then there's the hell in Sam's brain vid, the ACDC vid, the spn_bigpretzel challenge vid, and all those vid prompts... Oh and S5 motels AND a meta/picspam spoof on over-thinking in fandom (yeah.. I want to make fun of myself...) Yep!... my muse kills me...

They say the older you get the faster time seems to go by. Certainly true in my case. I can't believe it's another new year. 2011 was pretty good to me. I'm looking forward to 2012.

My sister's baby is due in 3 weeks. She's having a boy, but hasn't been able to decide on a name. She has three favourites (which she is keeping a secret) but I mentioned Jensen as a name and it has HIT THE LEAD! \o/ Hee! Can you imagine. A member of my family being called Jensen. That was make me smile. I also mentioned Sam and that's being considered as well. :D *fingers crossed* for a SPN baby name.

Aaaanyway. HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all. It's been a fun fandom year for me. Particularly being able to met some real life fangirls. LJ is my happy place. The place I come to escape real life stresses. So THANK YOU for making it such a happy place. (I hope it continues to be that way - with all the LJ changes and all).

While I'm here.... I just HAVE TO rec some vids that zimshan recced to me recently. It was in relation to the bad vid post I made a few weeks ago. Though this isn't a "bad vid" by any means... It's the crackiest, most amazing vid I think I've ever seen.

If you haven't seen it I URGE you to check it out. It's brilliantly made and... my God.. the idea. (It's Smallville, but you don't need to know the show at all). Honestly. Go watch! You won't be disappointed. (it's slash but try not to let that put you off either (if you're not into slash) ... it's friggin' hilarious. And kinda O_o)

I also highly recommend this "bad vid" (of the Lord King Bad Vid variety). It's a Merlin vid but, again, you don't need to know the show to watch it. Again slash, but crackish so pretty harmless.

This is a perfect example of a LKBV. As in it's done in complete sincerity, it's well made but the idea is "horrific". And in being so quite hilarious.

I can't even. It's perfection. And one of the few vids I watch over and over...

Shaun Tan is an award winning Australian author/artist. From Perth in fact. I recently became familiar with his children's book, The Red Tree. It's an incredible examination of depression. Well, I see it as depression. It could be seen as feeling lost and trapped. Unsure of the road ahead. It's open to many interpretations of course. Discussing this with my children today opened my mind to various possibilities. I am constantly surprised how intuitive children are when given the chance.

I'm sharing this because I know some of you have been experiencing this and I hoped that it might be inspirational.

I also think this is an amazing fanvid. The use of original music is stunning, as is the sensitive editing and use of image.

Every time I watch this I get something different from it. You might like it. :)
